Fergie quells Ronaldo-Man U return rumour ahead of CL clash

Alex-FergusonLondon, Mar 4 : Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has quelled rumours linking his former prodigy Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to Old Trafford ahead of the second leg of their Champions League pre-quarterfinal clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Fergie said he would love to have Ronaldo back at club, but there is nothing concrete in the rumours linking the Portuguese with a cut-price comeback, the Daily Mirror reports.

Ronaldo to United transfer story rumbles on this weekend, with an English tabloid reporting that the Los Blancos ace will take a massive pay cut to return to Old Trafford.

It''s claimed that Ronaldo would accept half of the massive wage packet PSG are prepared to pay him as part of a double summer swoop that would also see Jose Mourinho moving to France, the paper reported.

However Ferguson insists that Manchester United have been given no encouragement to launch a bid to bring Ronaldo back at the club.

With Ronaldo stalling over a new contract at the Bernabeu, there have been suggestions that United are looking at ways to finance his return, but Ferguson believes the 28-year-old''s advisers are just using his admiration for the player as a bargaining tool.

United forced a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Bernabeu and if Ferguson''s team can eliminate the Spanish champions it will pile the pressure on their coach Mourinho. (ANI)
