A federal judge awards 20 years in prison to Mexican drug kingpin
Officials said on Monday that Mexican cocaine trafficker Miguel Arriola was sentenced by a federal judge in Colorado to 20 years in prison.
The U. S. Justice Department said in a release that Arriola, 42, who was sentenced on Friday in Colorado Springs, also will serve four years of supervised released following his prison term and pay a $250,000 fine.
It was also reported that Arriola had been indicted in 2003, was extradited in 2007 and pleaded guilty in 2009.
The report further noted that authorities had seized 2,300 kilograms of cocaine and $10 million in cash from the drug-running operation allegedly led by Arriola and his brother Oscar. Charges against Oscar Arriola are still pending. (With Inputs from Agencies)
