Maribor, Slovenia  - The father of Slovenian Olympic alpine skier Andrej Jerman died on Saturday after suffering a heart attack at the venue of this weekend's World Cup event.

Janez Jerman, 61, was working for Slovenian television at the World Cup event and was participating at the course lay-out for Sunday's slalom event when he collapsed.

An Austrian team doctor was immediately on hand, but his help came too late.

A minute of silence has been scheduled for the team meeting on Saturday evening. (dpa)
