Facebook has finally started operating in India and has opened its office in Hyderabad recently. A team from Facbook’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California along with a team of recently hired Indian people from India is running this office.

The opening of the new office in Hyderabad was celebrated by Facebook launching an art competition, wherein the local artists were asked to give in their suggestions for original designs for the office building.

The contest, which will go on till 22nd October, can be registered into by interested artists by visiting the online page facebook. com/Facebook. The winner of the contest will be declared on 15th November, 2010.

Facebook has around 500 million users all over the world: it is like a home to its users where the people share their lives with their family, friends, colleagues and even neighbors. With the opening of the office in Hyderabad, Facebook India wants to create a space that will mirror the company’s home in India, with decorations suggested by the local artists.

India alone has 15 million Facebook users, developers and advertisers at the present moment, and the company feels this is the best time to start its operations in India.
