Facebook holds first shareholders' meetingSocial networking giant, Facebook has held its first shareholders' meeting following a difficult for the company's shareholders.

Facebook recently marked one-year anniversary of its public debut in the previous month and the young CEO Mark Zuckerberg met his shareholders for the time following a year of falls in the share value of the company. Many shareholders have been complaining about insiders making profits on shares and raised questions about the company's handling of the offering.

"We understand that a lot of people are disappointed in the performance of the stock, and we really are, too," Zuckerberg said in a statement.

Facebook shareholders have also approved the re-election of board members Zuckerberg, Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Peter Thiel, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and three others.

Facebook shares were listed with much fanfare on Nasdaq Stock Market but had lost market value soon after its debut. The shares of the company have fallen during the year as investors raised concerns over the ability of the one-billion-member, social giant to generate revenues. However, the company has posted an impressive quarterly revenue gains above 30 per cent.
