The United States after a long period of time will observe the number one position of the most viewed website, being taken away by Facebook. Facebook has displaced the best search engine on the most viewed website list.

Facebook story was recently made into a film called, The Social Network which also was a hit amongst the youngsters all over the world. Being the top visited website for the first time, Facebook drew the attention of 8.93pc of all US visits from January 2010 to November 2010. The data that were analyzed by Experian Hitwise also mentioned that Google slipped to second place after a long time, with 7.19pc of visits and the third spot was taken by Yahoo mail at a meager 3.52pc.

The company also analyzed on the top 1000 search items for 2010, and found that the top-searched term overall was “Facebook”.

YouTube, Craigslist, and MySpace followed the list, which show the importance of social networking on the web. Netflix, Verizon Wireless, Pogo, Tagged, Poptropica, and Hulu were between the top when top 50 new technology-related search terms were researched.
