Harare  - Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has left hospital one day after a road accident that left him injured and claimed the life of his wife Susan.

The heavily-bandaged Tsvangirai was met at the hospital as he left by dozens of supporters from his party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), witnesses have said.

The vehicle in which the Tsvangirais were travelling was hit by a truck south of Harare on Saturday evening. His party has called for an independent investigation, suggesting that foul play may have been involved. (dpa)
