Exide Industries Q1 Net Profit Surges 35%Exide Industries registered a 35% increase in its net profit for the three month period ended June 30 of this fiscal (2010-11).

Stored energy solutions supplier recorded 30% surge in its gross sales during April-June quarter as compared to the same period of the previous year.

The company's gross sales were Rs 1,410 crore from Rs 1084 crore during the same period of the previous year.

The company's net profit during the said period stood at Rs 249 crore as compared to Rs 191 crore recorded in the same quarter a year ago.

In a statement, the company stated, "The company's penetration strategy into the replacement market for commercial vehicles and tractor segment is paying off handsomely where sales grew by 14 per cent. Among other segments, motorcycle battery sales showed significant growth, improving 27 per cent in volume terms."

The Company is the country's biggest lead acid storage battery maker.

Exide's predecessor started its functioning in the year 1916 as an import house named as Chloride electrical Storage Company.

Since then, Exide has been making progress by taking necessary plans to upgrade its manufacturing processes and by continuously amending its client services. (With Inputs from Agencies)
