Ex-cricketers Kapil Dev, Bishen Bedi flag off vintage car rally in Delhi
New Delhi, Jan. 25 : The Heritage Motoring Club of India in association with corporate major Jaypee Group organised a vintage car and two-wheeler rally here on Sunday.
Held under the banner ''The Jaypee Vintage and Classic Rally'', the event saw the participation of over 250 enthusiasts travelling in 68 vintage cars and 46 two-wheelers.
The car models included Jaguar, Graham-Paige, Rileys, Oldsmobiles, Plymouths, Austin of England, Morris Minor, Fiat, Buicks, Studybakers, Mustangs, Cadillacs, Fords, Chevrolets, Beetles and Mercedes Benz.
The rally was flagged off from Jaypee Vasant Continental Hotel by former captains of Indian cricket team Bishen Singh Bedi and Kapil Dev. Also present on the occasion was model Charu Sachdev.
"I think it is a great feeling to learn that the technology has gone from where to where. Secondly, the people who keep and still maintain it. It is hats off to them. We should have a culture of that. Delhi has lot of things but we are missing out this type of culture but some organisations are taking part and trying to do something. In this manner, it is fantastic and lot of people will take on that," said Kapil Dev, a former cricketer.
The event is also meant to provide fun and enjoyment for car enthusiasts, car collectors and spectators.
"The Heritage Motoring Club of India (HMCL) has organised this event and Jaypee Group sponsored it. We are thankful to the Jaypee Group for the privilege they have given to us. Heritage and Jaypee are all about craftsmanship, class and quality," said Diljeet Titus, Secretary General, Heritage Motoring Club of India.
Covering a distance of 48 kilometres, the rally culminated at Jaypee Greens located at Greater Noida in the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
The Heritage Motoring Club of India was founded in 2001. It has 200 members across India, all proud owners of more than 3000 vintage and classic cars and motorcycles. (ANI)
