With a view to ensure that the processes of the Unique Identification (UID) program are in line with the vision, the authorities has selected three consortia to set up and run systems that will ensure that the biometrics-based IDs are not duplicated.

It is to be mentioned here that the consortia will be led by Accenture Ltd and MindTree Ltd; Mahindra Satyam and Sagem Morpho Security Pvt. Ltd; and Hewlett-Packard Co., L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. and 4G Identity Solutions Pvt. Ltd respectively.

It has been learned from the sources that a formal agreement on the same is expected to be signed by the end oft his week and to ensure that it gets an optimal level of authenticity; the authority has rather opted for three vendors in the place of one. Rajesh Mashruwala, coordinator of biometrics at UIDAI, said that it has selected three vendors and the formal announcement will be made soon.

While he refused to divulge any further details on the same but most of the vendors on the list also refused to comment on the developments of the contract.
