Elon Musk to release Hyperloop on August 12Elon Musk, the billionaire chairman and chief executive officer of electric-vehicle maker Tesla Motors, has said that he will release anew new mass transit method on 12 August, 2013 that will revolutionize the entire mass transit industry.

He wrote in a tweet posted Monday that he will release his invention the Hyperloop on 12 August, 2013 in a move to revolutionize the mass transit in countries. Some believe that the Hyperloop could include a series of pneumatic tubes moving along the river of air. Musk has reportedly spoken against plans to build bullet train in California claiming that his invention will be able to get people from from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 30 minutes while the bullet train will need about three hours.

He is seeking critical feedback on his invention and will publish the details in open source on 12 August, 2013. He also indicated that he will be ready to work in other partners on the project for the mass transit system. Musk had said a few months earlier that Hyperloop would consist of some sort of tube that would carry people from downtown San Francisco to Los Angeles in 30 minutes. He said that the system will be power by the solar energy and will emerge as the fifth mode of transportation following trains, planes, automobiles and boats.

Meanwhile, Tesla Motors has emerged as the leading seller of rechargeable vehicles in the North American market ahead of General Motors' plug-in Volt and Nissan's battery-powered Leaf.
