Election Commission to review security ahead of Karnataka polls
New Delhi, Mar 31: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N. Gopalaswamy along with two election commissioners Dr. S. Y. Qureshi and Navin Chawla will review the security requirements for Karnataka Assembly polls, here today.
According to EC sources, the team will discuss availability of security forces and law and order situation in the state with Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta and other senior officials.
Earlier, the team had a high-level meeting with Karnataka Chief Secretary and Director General of Police to give a fine-tuning to the poll preparations.
Last week, the EC had decided to conduct elections to the Assembly before the end of President’s rule, in May-end. Karnataka has been under the rule of the President since December 28, 2007. (ANI)
