‘Drug-crazed idiot’ Boy George gets 15-month jail in male escort case
London, January 17 : Boy George, who was found guilty of falsely imprisoning a male escort in his east London flat, was dubbed "drug-crazed idiot" as he was sentenced to 15 months in jail.
The Brit singer had been accused of handcuffing escort Audun Carlsen and beating him after a drug-fuelled nude photo shoot.
The Culture Club star, born as George O'Dowd, had then allegedly tied the Norwegian to his bedroom wall and thrashed him with a metal chain before the 29-year-old fled in his boxers in April last year.
Judge David Radford, in Snaresbrook Crown Court, told the 47-year-old that he had committed a "shocking and degrading" attack that had traumatised his victim.
"You assaulted the victim of this offence, whom you had invited into your home, by handcuffing him to your bed and inflicting on him additional wholly gratuitous violence," the Daily Express quoted the judge as saying.
"Whilst I accept that Mr Carlsen's physical injuries were not serious or permanent, in my view there can be no doubt that your premeditated, callous and humiliating handcuffing and detention of Mr Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatised him."
He added: "This offence is so serious that only an -immediate sentence of imprisonment can be justified by it." (ANI)
