Dr Kalam says national campaign necessary for eradication of terrorism
New Delhi, Dec 18 : Former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam today said that a national campaign should be formulated for eradication of terrorism.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of a seminar here, Dr. Kalam said, "the national campaign should focus on eradicating poverty, education as well as making people aware of the perils of terrorism".
He also called for fast delivery of justice and eradication of poverty as part of the national campaign.
On being asked whether India was capable of defending itself in case of war, Dr. Kalam said India is a nuclear power and therefore it has the strength to defend herself.
"We are a big nation of .... a billion people. We have declared in our nuclear policy we will not be the first in the Asian continent to deploy nuclear weapons because what does it mean, it means strength we have," he added. (ANI)
