'Divide and Rule is in the DNA of Congress': Modi

Narendra-ModiSawai Madhopur (Rajasthan), Nov 19 : The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) prime ministerial aspirant, Narendra Modi, on Tuesday asked the people of Rajasthan to understand the divisive mentality of the ruling Congress Party.

"Congress makes sharp calculations to divide communities to garner votes of that group, and for them, development takes a backseat,' he said while addressing a rally here in the poll-bound state.

"You need to understand the character of the Congress Party. Breaking promises is part of Congress's character. They indulge in vote bank politics Divide and Rule is in the DNA of the Congress. I have full confidence that Rajasthan will throw away this party," he added.

Modi also highlighted the intolerant attitude of the Congress Party towards anyone who supported him, and asked the people whether they would cast their vote for such a party.

"Lata Mangeshkarji said Modi should become the prime minister. Congress leaders could not tolerate this, and demanded that her Bharat Ratna should be taken back. What kind of democracy is this?" he questioned.

He further claimed that there has been a lot of development in states under BJP's rule.

"Wherever there is BJP's government, there is development. Look at Madhya Pradesh it was considered a sick state. Under Shivraj Singh Chauhan 's leadership it is no longer counted amongst the underdeveloped states," he said.

"Even Rajasthan is counted amongst the sick, underdeveloped states. If you want to pull Rajasthan out of this list, you need to throw the Congress out first. Till the time India becomes Congress-free, our country cannot prosper," he added.

Rajasthan, which is currently governed by Congress Government, votes for a new assembly on December 1. The counting of votes will take place on December 8. (ANI)
