Dinesh advances into pre-quarterfinal of WBC

boxingIndia's Dinesh Kumar defeated Czech Republic's Vladimir Reznicek in his first bout of light heavy weight (81kg) to storm into the pre-quarterfinals of the World Boxing Championships (WBC) in Milan, Italy on Sunday.

The World Cup bronze medalist, Dinesh had got a bye in the first round and he thumped Vladimir 15-7 in the second round to move to the next round. Dinesh earned most of his points through straight jabs and left upper-cuts.

Dinesh took 7-2 lead in the first round and he enhanced his lead to 12-5 in the second round. The Indian boxer ended third round with a score of 3-2 to win the match.

Indian coach Gurbax Singh Sandhu praised Dinesh's performance in the match saying that Dinesh gave a decent performance in the match and his accurate punches and upper-cuts helped him to win the match.
