DGSCL to re-start collecting toll fee on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway from today evening

DGSCL to re-start collecting toll fee on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway from today eveningThe Sirhol toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway will once again start collecting toll fee from all vehicles from today (Tuesday) evening.

The Punjab & Haryana High Court on Monday lifted the ban on toll fee collection that had been imposed on 4th of September.

The High Court division bench comprised Justice SK Mittal and Justice Inderjit Singh ruled that the operator, Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Ltd (DGSCL), can collect toll fee from all vehicles passing through the Sirhol toll plaza on the expressway around the clock, except during peak traffic hours i. e., 8:30am to 10am and 5:30pm to 7pm.

The division bench also directed the Haryana police to make sure that no vehicle takes an "L-turn" in lieu of a "U-turn" while going from Gurgaon to Delhi before the toll plaza, close to Ambience Mall.

The bench said in its ruling, "If any violator is takes an "L-turn", challan him. The concessionaire should also put signages at particular places regarding the same with a warning that violators will be challaned."

The direction came after Ravindra Tomar, assistant commissioner of police (traffic), Gurgaon, informed the court that the ban on the U-turn of vehicles didn't ease traffic congestion.

The bench also suggested that any vehicle that entered the wrong lane should be charged double toll fee, and also urged the concessionaire to consider rounding off toll fee of Rs 21 to Rs. 20 to avoid delay in collection of toll fee.
