 Delhi’s kite lovers have a gala time despite rains on I DayNew Delhi, Aug 15: Despite rains spoiling the mood of kite lovers in the morning, colourful kites dotted the skyline of the national capital rest of the day, as residents took to the sport to celebrate country''s 63rd Independence Day on Saturday.

Kite flying has traditionally been an entertainment in the country and people of all ages see it as the best medium to celebrate the national day.

Kites of all hues and shapes, including dragons, human faces, shapes of birds and fruit, battled for space in the sky.

Though kite flying is popular in several parts of the country, Delhi holds a special place in the hearts of the kite flyers.

“We celebrate August 15 with enthusiasm by flying kites as we got the independence after much struggle,” said Rajesh Kumar, said a local resident.

Meanwhile, another kite flying enthusiast Rajeev said the whole family got together while flying kites.

“We celebrate August 15 by flying kites along with our family and children since this was the day when India got its independence,” said Rajeev. (ANI)
