Delhi Metro launches exhibition depicting evolution of Indian cinema The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in partnership with the Embassy of France has launched an exhibition of rare photographs depicting the evolution of Indian cinema.

The exhibition of rare photographs by famous photographer Pablo Bartholomew was inaugurated on Tuesday at Rajiv Chowk Metro station by DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh and Ambassador of France to India Francois Richier.

The photographs by Padma Shri awardee Pablo Bartholomew portrays Indian cinema right from the silent and black-&-white era to the present.

Titled 'Film Industry: Then and Now,' prompts visitors to make comparison between the old and new film industry. It clearly depicts that Indian film industry has changed a lot since evolution.

Anuj Dayal, Chief Public Relations Officer at DMRC, said, "This exhibition is a part of the Fete de la photo, a pan India initiative by French Embassy to depict art in public spaces, in which exhibitions will be taking place across eight cities of the country."

Apart from Pablo Bartholomew, the exhibition is displaying the works of Dayanita Singh, Laurent Laveder, Amit Mehra, Raghu Rai, and Denis Felix. The organizers said that the aim of the exhibition was to democratize photography by taking it into the street for public viewing, making art accessible to all and sundry.

The exhibition of rare photographs will run through March 20, 2014.
