Deccan crashes out of T20 Champions League
The Indian Premier League's (IPL-2) champions, Deccan Chargers has crashed out of the T20 Champions League after losing to Trinidad and Tobago in the last match of the league phase at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Deccan Chargers skipper Adam Gilchrist won the toss and elected to field first. Trinidad scored 149 runs for loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. W Perkins was top scorer with 38 runs in 32 balls. F Edwards took three wickets for the Deccan.
Chasing target of 150 runs, Deccan got to a bad start as they lost three wickets for just 30 runs on the board. Gilchrist smashed 51 runs in 36 balls but could not lead his team to victory. Deccan Chargers managed to score only 146 runs for loss 9 wickets in 20 overs.
Man of the match D Bravo took three wickets while R Rampaul and L Simmons chipped in with one wicket each. With this win, Trinidad has qualified for the next round along with Somerset from Group A.
