DataWind to offer Ubislate 7 tablet next month
DataWind is planning to release its new Aakash 2 tablet computer in the Indian market after it developed older Aakash tablet as part of the government's initiative to provide affordable tablets to students in the country.
The newer tablet, Aakash 2, which is officially named Ubislate 7 is believed to be a better alternative to the original version as it addressed most of the flaws with the older tablet including its slow processor speed, weak battery life and poor connectivity.
The company has opened pre-orders for the device and has received more than half a million pre-orders from customers in the first two weeks of opening its online sale through its website. The company claims that it will deliver all the tablets on time to the customers who booked the device in pre-orders.
The tablet will come with GPRS support, improved Wi-Fi connectivity speeds and 2 USB 2.0 ports. It also has port for a 3G modem allowing users to enjoy faster internet on the device. The tablet also supports 150,000 Apps as well as video games.
It has a powerful 3, 200mAh battery offering battery life of 4 to 5 hours, which is more than 3 hours in Aakash tablet. Under the cover, the tablet will be powered by a faster Cortex A8-700MHz processor and also have a graphics processor and a HD video processor. As for storage, the tablet will come with 2GB onboard Flash storage.
