Dan Duncan, co-founder of Enterprise Products Co, dies at age of 70The Houston Chronicle has reported Dan Duncan, co-founder of Enterprise Products Co., listed as the 74th wealthiest man in the world in 2010, died Sunday. He was 77.

The cause of death was not reported. "The entire Enterprise family mourns the unexpected passing of Dan Duncan," President and Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Michael Creel said.

Duncan co-founded the midstream energy company that eventually took him from rags to riches in 1968. The Web site for Enterprise says it is a leading provider of midstream energy services with, among many assets, 48,700 miles of onshore and offshore pipelines.

Duncan was worth about $9 billion, and generous to the city of Houston and to the Baylor College of Medicine, which received a $100 million gift from Duncan, the Chronicle further said.

With 550 entries in his name in the Safari Club International Record Book, he was an avid hunter.

He was not born wealthy. His mother died when he was 7 and his father, a pipe line worker, died when he was 17. (With Inputs from Agencies)
