Dalai Lama urges China to be a respected host for Olympics
New Delhi, Mar 29 : Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama here on Saturday said that he supports the Beijing Olympics, but urges China to be a respected host.
The Dalai Lama pointed out that Chinese record of human rights and freedom was very poor record.
Earlier in the day, Dalai Lama attended an inter-faith prayer session at Rajghat.
China has accused the Dalai Lama, of orchestrating a rash of monk-led protests and rioting, in a bid to wreck the August 8-24 Beijing Olympic Games.
The spiritual leader denies that he masterminded the protests -- which culminated last Friday in a riot in Lhasa -- from his base in Dharamsala. He says he wants greater autonomy for his homeland, not independence, as China suspects. (ANI)
