Dalai Lama unwell, cancels trips to Mexico, Dominican Republic

Dalai Lama named freeman of ParisNew Delhi  - Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has cancelled all travel engagements for the next three weeks because he is feeling unwell, a statement from his office in the northern India town of Dharamsala said.

His personal physicians said he was suffering from exhaustion, and have advised him to cancel his engagements and complete remaining medical tests that began earlier in August in Mumbai, the statement said.

"It has therefore been decided that all his schedules for the next three weeks, including the visit to Mexico and the Dominican Republic, are being canceled with immediate effect," it said.

Buddhist leader, who lives in exile in India, recently returned from a tour of France. (dpa)
