Chennai, Jan 22: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has reiterated the demand for Tibet's autonomy.

The Dalai Lama, who is on a two-day visit to Chennai delivered, a talk on ''Peace and Happiness'' at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium on Wednesday.

Later taking to reporters, he said he was not seeking Tibet''s separation from China, but demanding a "Middle Way Approach."

"The Chinese government should give us meaningful autonomy. Actually the Chinese Constitution mentioned these rights but not implemented on the spot. So, that usually we call middle way approach, not seeking separation. But in meantime, not in present arrangement, we never suggest that," he added.

Tibetans living in exile contend that Chinese atrocities have increased since the Tibetan uprising in Lhasa in March 2008, whereas China blame the Dalai Lama led clique for instigating unrest.

The unrest has resulted in riots that have spilled over across Tibet and into neighbouring Chinese provinces. (ANI)
