‘Cyclone Nisha’ wrecks havoc across Tamilnadu
Chennai, Nov. 29 : Unending rain for the last 48 hours has thrown normal life out of gear across costal Tamilnadu. Cyclone Nisha which crossed the coastal Tamilnadu two days ago is still having its effect, lashing Chennai continuously. Several areas, including the city’s posh localities are water logged and the authorities have had to rush in boats to shift people to safer places.
Velachery, which is on the I. T Highway is said to be the worst affected area where people in high rise buildings unable to come out due waist deep water. Traffic movement between Medavakkam and Velachery has been hit as water from the Narayanapuram Lake has overflowed and submerged the Velachery-Tambaram highway. Power supply and telephone lines too are badly disrupted.
