Crate and Barrel’s plant-shaped candles recalled
According to a federal watchdog agency, Crate and Barrel is recalling thousands of its plant-shaped candles because they pose an unacceptable fire risk.
It has been reported that about 5,400 plant-shaped candles were imported from China by Crate and Barrel, a division of Euromarket Designs Inc. of Northbrook Ill., and sold nationwide from February through April for about $7 apiece.
Announcing the voluntary recall, the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that flammable candle wax melts quickly and overflows the container, posing a risk of burn or a fire.
The candles are shaped as succulent plants in clay pots. They were sold with SKU number 557-806.
It was further reported that consumers were advised to stop using the candles and return them to Crate and Barrel for a full refund. (With Inputs from Agencies)
