Court rejects bail pleas of Balwa and Chandolia
Rejecting the bail plea of Shahid Usman Balwa and RK Chandolia, A Delhi court said that licence granted to Swan Telecom can't be justified. Court said that as RCom was already granted 2G licence, its associate Swan Telecom can't apply for licence.
Shahid Usman Balwa is the promoter of Swan Telecom and RK Chandolia is former personal secretary of former telecom minister A Raja. Court explained rejection of bail plea as accused are "high-ranking-public-servants" and are "influential". It's very possible that they may affect investigation.
Spcial CBI Judge, OP Saini said yesterday rejecting bail please of Balwa and Chandolia, "M/s Reliance Telecom Limited of ADAG group of companies had already been granted licence in some circles and, as such, M/s Swan Telecom Pvt. Ltd, its associate company, was not eligible for license".
They are currently in custody for their suspicious role in 2G scam. As court rejected the eligibility of Swan Telecom, it becomes tougher for the A Raja to reduce number and intensity of charges against him. Court said that Swan Telecom was not even needed to apply for licenses as it was an incorporation of M/s Reliance group of companies. 2G spectrum financial scandal is biggest corruption in the history modern politics in India.
