Cook’s ton leads England to 2-0 win over Bangladesh
England has defeated Bangladesh by nine wickets in the second and last test to win the two test matches series 2-0 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.
Bangladesh today resumed their inning from overnight score of 176 runs for loss of six wickets and bundled out with 285 runs on the board in the second inning. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan scored 86 runs as they set target of 209 runs for the English team.
J Tredwell took four wickets for England while S Broad and G Swann picked up two wickets each.
Chasing the target of the 209 runs, England lost I Trott (19) early in the inning but after that A Cook and K Petersen played brilliantly to lead their team to comfortable victory.
Cook smashed unbeaten 109 runs while Petersen was unbeaten at 74 runs. Hasan was declared man of the match while Swann was adjudged man of the series.
