Congress leads in Rajasthan, Delhi and Mizoram, BJP set to retain in MP
New Delhi, Dec 8 : As counting continues progress in five states, the Congress is set to gain power in Rajasthan, Delhi and Mizoram while it is in a neck-and-neck race with the BJP in Chhattisgarh.
The only consolation for the BJP appears to be coming from Madhya Pradesh where it has established a clear lead over Congress and is on the way to retaining power. In the 230-member assembly, BJP was ahead in 120 seats and the Congress in 70. Others account for 30.
In Rajasthan, according to latest trends, the ruling BJP is losing power to Congress. In 200-member Rajasthan assembly, the Congress is ahead in 98 seats while the BJP is leading in 67. Others were leading in 30 seats.
In national capital, Sheila Dikshit is set to become chief minister for a record third consecutive time, as the Congress is leading in 36 seats as opposed to the BJP, which is leading in 26. Others were ahead in six seats. Congress has already won two seats in the 70-member assembly.
In Mizoram, the Congress has already won 10 of the 40 seats and is leading in six others while the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) is ahead in three seats and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in one.
The final results are expected to be out by the evening. (ANI)
