JLR boosts Tata Motors global sale up by 62 percentTata Motors, the automobile manufacturing giant of India, has announced that the company’s British subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) sales has helped the company’s global sales to increase by 62% in the month of November.

The company has informed that the JLR has sold 18,825 units in November, out of which 4,333 units were sold by Jaguar, which is 2% down, while Land Rover sales registered an increase of 45% to 14,492 units.

"Of Rs. 10 crore (Rs. 100 million) which was to be paid to Tata Motors as annual maintenance charge for the low-floor buses, we have stopped payment of Rs. 4 crore (40 million) as penalty," said Delhi government's Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely.

A bright, sunshine yellow Nano, built by Indian auto major Tata Motors, will be on display in Cooper-Hewitt's Great Hall, along with diagrams and a short film describing its concept, development and production, the Smithsonian Institution announced Friday.


Tata Motors Posts Profitable Second Quarter on Back of Jaguar Cost Cuts

tata motorOne of India's largest automobile manufacturers Tata Motors, after adopting severe cost cuts at its Jaguar unit, posted a successful second quarter report. Figures posted for the July-September period for the current year revealed a profit of 217.8 Million Rupees, a substantial rise from the loss of 9.42 Billion Rupees posted for the same period last year.

The figures were officially confirmed by the Mumbai based firm today, while also sharing that sales, however, fell by 8.5% to 208.9 Billion Rupees.

Tata's Singur land can be acquired for BHEL: Bengal ministerKolkata, Nov 26 - West Bengal Commerce and Industry Minister Nirupam Sen Thursday said if state-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) selected the land abandoned by Tata Motors in Singur, the state government would acquire it from the auto major.

"If BHEL selects the land, we will begin the process to get it released," Sen told reporters here.

Tata Motors sales up 34 percent in OctoberKolkata, Nov 2 : Auto major Tata Motors registered sales of 53,404 units last month, a growth of 34 percent over the 39,729 vehicles sold in October 2008, a company statement said here Monday.

Sales of the company's commercial and passenger vehicles include exports.

"The company's domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for October 2009 were 50,552, a 40 percent growth over 36,168 sold in October last year," the statement said.

"We're expecting a growth of about 50-60 percent in the production of our LCV units in 2009-10. We think there will be a huge demand of these light trucks as the service industry is poised to grow at a massive rate in the near future," Tata Motors sales and marketing head (LCV) Anil Kapur told reporters.

Tata Motors, the largest commercial vehicle maker of the country, has entered into an agreement with Andhra Bank, one of the largest public sector undertakings in the country catering to the financial needs of industry as well as retail segment, for financing its range of commercial vehicles to provide an added facility of finance to its customers.

Under the deal, the lender will offer loans for Tata Motors' commercial vehicles up to 90% of the on-the road cost (including vehicle cost, road tax and insurance), for up to 6 years, at an interest rate of 12.50% per annum.

Tata MotorsTata Motors, the largest commercial vehicle maker of the country, has finally occupied controlling rights in Hispano Carrocera, a Spanish bus and coach manufacturer, by acquiring the remaining 79 per cent stake in the firm.

The company stated in a release that it has bought remaining stake in Hispano by way of exercise of the existing call option, through mutual agreement with other share-holder, Investelia SA Spain. However, the company did not disclose the size of the deal.

Earlier in 2005, Tata Motors had acquired the 21 per cent equity stake in Hispano Carrocera SA for a total price of euro 12 million.

"Tata Motors, which had a 21 percent stake in Hispano Carrocera since 2005, has acquired the remaining 79 percent shares in Hispano by way of exercise of the existing call option, through mutual agreement with the other share-holder, Investalia SA," the company said.

The ex-showroom Delhi cost of all-new version of the Indigo sedan, to become available Friday onwards, will be Rs 4.8 lakh for the base petrol model and Rs. 6.75 lakh for the top-end diesel model.

Tata Motors CFO, CR Ramakrishnan said: "The offering will augment our long-term resources, help us de-leverage and provide us with financial flexibility to pursue our strategic goals."

Under the agreement, the bank will offer finance for Tata Motors range of commercial vehicles.

Through this contract, customers can avail 85% loan of the on-road cost which comprises vehicle cost, necessary accessories, road tax and insurance from State Bank of Hyderabad.

The sources informed that the bank is offering loan at a very competitive interest rate of 12.5% with the period up to 5 years.
