CloudOn describes Office Mobile for iPhone as “half-baked”
CloudOn has described the new Microsoft's Office Mobile for iPhone as an `half-baked' effort from the software giant for Apple users with basic features like file compatibility.
CloudOn offers is own service for Office compatibility across the Apple iPhone, iPad, and Android platforms. Milind Gadekar, CloudOn's chief executive admitted that the Microsoft's Office Mobile for iPhone was better in offline capabilities and indicated that the company will work to improve its own offline capabilities in the coming months.
Microsoft launched its own Office Mobile for iPad on Friday through service that requires users to subscribe to an annual $100 Office 365 plan. On the other hand, CloudOn is allowing users to access a stored copy of Office in the cloud free of cost. It also allows members to save documents to a number of online storage providers. However, CloudOn requires constant internet connection and could face a problem with the connection is interrupted.
CloudOn's true Office compatibility and ability to export documents to a number of providers allows Apple users to access office features. It is to be seen if Microsoft is able to attract a number of users for its new service.
