Cinema Food to Be Labeled

cinema-snackA recent study has found that snacks provided at cinema contains excessive amount of calories. During the study, it was found that Nachos have 3.1g of salt, the average cola has 320 calories and a hotdog with mustard and ketchup has 580 calories.

Acknowledging the findings of the study, the consumer group has asked for imposing labels on the products so that consumer should be made aware of the quantity of calories they are taking in. A consumer group spokesperson said, "If people realized what was in these snacks, they might think twice about eating them".

Few months back, the restaurants were asked to label the edibles with the calories information, now it seems like, the cinemas will also be asked to do so. Obesity is a growing problem in almost every country. Therefore, it is necessary to make them aware of the quantity of calories they take in unknowingly.

As per the health guidelines issued for women, a woman should have around 2,000 calories and eat no more than 70g of fat each day. Similarly, a man should eat around 2,500 calories and no more than 95g of fat each day.
