Charter plane makes emergency landing at Copenhagen airport
Copenhagen - A Danish air force jet fighter was scrambled Friday in connection with the emergency landing of a charter plane at Copenhagen's Kastrup airport.
The plane, operated by charter company Jet Time, had departed from Billund airport in western Denmark when airport staff noticed traces of rubber on the runway.
The F-16 fighter was scrambled to inspect the plane.
As a precautionary measure the Boeing 737, was ordered to make an emergency landing and after circling over Billund airport to reduce weight was diverted to Kastrup, the budget airline and officials said.
None of the 154 people onboard were reported injured. The plane was heading for Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
Jet Times manager Klaus Ren told Danish television the passengers had been debriefed and were Friday afternoon headed for their holiday destination.
After the landing it was determined that one of the four wheels on the main landing gear had suffered a puncture. (dpa)
