Character Actor Sujit Kumar Died Of CancerRenowned film actor-producer maker Sujit Kumar passed away in Mumbai on Friday.

The 75-year-old actor was suffering from cancer.

Kumar, who contributed a great deal to Bollywood, is survived by his daughter Heena and son Jatin.

Indeed, right from the 1960s to the 1990s, Sujit was one of the most visible and consistent character actors in the Hindi film industry.

He is best remembered for portraying characters that ranged from the comedian to the villainish, and sometimes, both.

Sujit Kumar worked in more than 150 Hindi movies and was a superstar in the Bhojpuri film industry. His first Bhojpuri film was 'Bidesiya' (1963).

Some of his big Hindi hits were 'Haathi Mere Saathi', 'Amar Prem', 'Mehbooba', 'Roti', 'The Great Gambler', 'Adalat', 'Jugnu', 'Dharamveer', 'Charas', 'Dream Girl' and many others.

Kumar has also produced films like Khel, Daraar, Champion and Aetbaar.

A condolence ceremony will be held on Monday at the Indian Medical Association, Juhu.
