The entire winter session of the parliament was occupied with the decision of forming Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for 2G spectrum scam. From the last session BJP is insisting on forming JPC for all the corruption issues. However BJP is insisting to form JPC for CWG and Adarsh housing scams, where as NDA opposition parties like the Left have been demanding a JPC only on the 2G spectrum.

Finally government has decided to constitute a JPC to inquire 2G scandal. Now the government is in the process of identifying the chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee for which few names are shortlisted, including Kishore Chandra Deo, PC Chacko and Girija Vyas.

The government has made it clear that JPC will be restricted to probe 2G spectrum scam only and it will not accept BJP’s demand to extend the domain of JPC to other corruption issues like Commonwealth Games and Adarsh Housing.

Moreover it has been announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on Friday that government would declare the setting up of a JPC by Wednesday. He also emphasize that JPC will not probe into all the three issues as it is not allowed under parliamentary procedure to club different issues under one resolution.
