Car Control system attacked by hackers

Car Control system attacked by hackersExperts have informed that the computer control system used for modern cars is completely exposed to the hackers. It has become very easy for the hackers to attack them. The security researchers found the system to be easily subverted and very much fragile.

The investigators have shown a demo in which the engine can be stopped by a remote control and then anybody having knowledge on that can turn off the brakes. After that they are making the reading instruments out of order. They are working faulty and proving false readings after this threat.

However the experts have said that this hacking can be possible but it is not going to be an easy task to do. A research group, led by Tadayoshi Kohno from the University of Washington and Prof Stefan Savage of University of California, has examined the ability of the cars to deal with such threats.

They have found out that the attacks are basically on the electronic control units (ECU). The modern vehicles use binary code of 100 megabytes, spread across the 70 ECUs. Every ECU work on their specific programs but when situation demands, these can work with each other with combination to get the result.
