California university hunger strike enters second week
According to the media reports, protesters at a California university resisted efforts by campus police to disperse them and say they will continue a hunger strike that has lasted a week.
The Oakland Tribune reported on Monday that activists have been camped in front of California Hall at UC Berkeley for a week, demanding the university condemn alleged racist legislation in Arizona, create a sanctuary on campus and stop punitive action against student and worker activists.
It was further reported that police managed to get the 19 protesters to move their location and confiscated some of their belongings, but the group was still on campus Monday.
The Tribune also reported that they say they plan continued rallies to pressure university officials. (With Inputs from Agencies)
