California man arrested on suspicion of killing two people

California man arrested on suspicion of killing two peoplePolice officials have said that a Southern California man arrested on suspicion of killing two people is back in jail after hospital treatment for a self-inflicted head injury.

The Orange County (Calif.) Register reported on Sunday that Daniel Wozniak, 26, was arrested at a Huntington Beach, Calif. restaurant Wednesday and charged with two felony counts of special circumstances murder in the deaths of Samuel Herr, 26, of Costa Mesa and Juri "Julie" Kibuishi, 23, of Irvine.

Authorities believe Herr was killed May 21 and his body dismembered; Kibuishi's body was found May 22 at Herr's apartment.

The Register also said that because Herr had disappeared, he was initially suspected of Kibuishi's killing.

Police further said that Wozniak was only considered an accessory in Kibuishi's death when arrested, but when Herr's dismembered body was found, Wozniak became the suspect.

The Register has reported that police allege Wozniak shot and killed Herr at a Los Alamitos, Calif., military training base to rob him, dismembered and hid the body, then allegedly lured Kibuishi to Herr's apartment and killed her, removing some of her clothing to create the impression of sexual assault to implicate Herr.
