RCom to open 82 new stores in Punjab

Reliance CommunicationsReliance Communications informed on Tuesday that it will open 82 new exclusive mobile stores in Punjab under its expansion programme.

Under the arrangement, the company would undertake expansion drive across several districts of state including Amritsar, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala.

According to company officials, the latest move is to bring affordable services closer to the people of Punjab and provide easier and faster access to world class telecommunications solutions.

RCom launches high-speed wireless broadband facility in Kolkata

Reliance CommunicationsAnil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company Reliance Communications on Monday launched its high-speed wireless broadband services in Kolkata.

The company claims that newly launched service is Country's fastest internet service with a peak downlink speed of upto 3.1 Mbps and an uplink speed of up to 1.8 Mbps. The company will deliver the services on its CDMA platform.

The company has launched multiple subscription plans for its wireless broadband service ranging from a monthly rental of Rs 299 to Rs 1,750. In addition, the company will take Rs 3,500 as one time cost for USB modem separately.

GSM service providers to disconnect mobiles without IMEI number from April 15!

Mobile PhoneGoing by a Department of Telecommunications (DoT) directive, as many as 250 lakh mobile subscribers, who use handsets that are without the valid IMEI - International Mobile Equipment Identity - number, face the likelihood of disconnection of services from April 15, the extended deadline after the earlier set December 31, 2008 cut-off date!

In accordance with the DoT instructions, GSM service providers - including Airtel and Vodafone - are all set to deny connectivity to mobile phones which do not have the essential IMEI number, which is 15-digit code appearing on the operator's network when a call is made.

TDSAT stays BSNL notice to disconnect Vodafone from its networkIt was quite a relief for mobile phone service provider, Vodafone Essar, when the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Thursday stayed a notice issued by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to disconnect Vodafone from its network.  

The government-operated, BSNL issued the notice to disconnect Vodafone from its network, alleging that Vodafone was illegally routing international calls through its (BSNL’s) local network, bypassing the BSNL network, which caused revenue loss to the PSU.
