Coal PSUs comply with companies act

New Delhi, Feb 16 : The Ministry of Coal today clarified that the Central Coalfields Ltd. (CCL) and the Bharat Coking Coal Ltd. (BCCL), PSUs under the administrative control of the Coal Ministry, have been regularly filing their annual return, profit and loss account and balance sheet with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), in full compliance with the relevant provisions of the Companies Act, 1956.

Further, these accounts were duly audited both by the statutory auditors and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

Rural infrastructure to cost Rs. 14,000 crore in 2008-09

New Delhi, Feb 16: The corpus of the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), which is the main instrument of the Government to channelise bank funds for financing rural infrastructure, has been increased from Rs. 5,500 crore in 2003-04 to Rs. 14,000 crore for the year 2008-09 ensuring greater availability of funds for its activities.

This was stated by, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, while presenting the Interim Budget 2009-2010 in the Lok Sabha here today.

He also added that a separate window for rural roads was created under RIDF with a corpus of Rs. 4,000 crore for each of the last three years.

A company official said, "The price hike is primarily due to rise in input cost. The price hike ranges from 1.2% to 3%." It may be noted that recently, Maruti Suzuki, Honda Siel, Toyota Kirloskar and Ford Motor India had also decided to raise prices due to similar reasons. After the latest revision, the company's flagship hatchback Santro will be costlier by Rs 3,601 to Rs 5,163 while, its premium compact car i10 will now be dearer by Rs 3,974 to Rs 7,637.
