Bajaj Auto To Roll Out 6 New Models To Improve SalesWith the intention to boost its declining sales figures, two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto Ltd is all set to roll out six (6) new models in 2009.

The company will start with a new product, which is due for debut on January 21. It will directly target rival Hero Honda’s most-popular Splendor/Passion range, the 135 cc XCD priced at Rs 45,000.

After this, the company will launch two new models under value-segment (125-135 cc engine size) by April and July 2009 respectively.

The new team is considered as a true combination of experts from banking, IT and law backgrounds.

On Sunday, the government appointed three new members on Satyam''s Board. Three members are HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh, former Nasscom chairman Kiran Karnik and former SEBI member C Achutan.

New York-listed Satyam welcomed the reconstitution of the board, saying it would ensure the outsourcer''s continued operations, help maintain customer confidence and staff morale, and restore investor trust.

Binani Cement To Raise Production By 2011-12Binani Cement Ltd has decided to make an investment of more than Rs 900 crore for establishing greenfield plants both in India as well as abroad to raise its overall production capacity to 15 million tonnes by the next three years (2011-12).

The company plans to invest around Rs 800 crore on the construction of a new plant in Gujarat, which would have an installed production capacity of about 2.5 million tonnes.

Moreover, the company is also eyeing a unit in Mauritius with a proposed capacity of two million tonnes.

Fuel and LPG price cut in next few daysPetroleum minister Murli Deora on Saturday announced that the government is likely to cut petrol rates up to Rs 5 per litre, and a reduction of Rs 3 a litre in diesel and Rs 25 per LPG cylinder prices in the coming days.

According to sources, Oil companies have minimized the losses on petrol and diesel, as crude oil rates have lowered to $40 per barrel from its peak of $147 a barrel in July previous year.
