Madrid - The Spanair plane involved in a crash that killed 154 people in Madrid in August attempted to take off without opening its flaps and slats, according to the 12-page preliminary report on the accident released Thursday in Madrid by the Spanish Public Works Ministry.
The document said that the wreckage of the MD-82 showed the malfunction, but the pilots would not have known there was a problem because the alarm signal did not go off.
Consolidated Construction Consortium (CCCL) would develop the expansion project of Chennai Airport Terminal. Chennai-based construction company, CCL has bagged this project from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) with Rs 1,212 crore. Passengers aboard Flight QF72 said the Airbus A330 dipped 8,000 feet (2,440 metres) in about 10 seconds on Tuesday before making an emergency landing at Learmonth military base, 1,260 kilometres north of Perth.
Athens - Greek state carrier Olympic Airlines cancelled more than 100 domestic and international flights on Wednesday as air- traffic controllers and crews joined a nationwide 24-hour strike against government plans to privatize the airline.
The cancellations will affect flights to European destinations such as London, Rome, Paris and Frankfurt as well as some domestic flights.
