Bush to send Rice to India
Washington, Dec. 1 : Keen to demonstrate the United States'' support for India in the wake of the recent terror strikes in Mumbai that left at least 195 dead and 295 wounded, President George W Bush has instructed Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to travel to New Delhi to meet and commiserate with the Indian leadership.
A statement issued by White Press Secretary Dana Perino on behalf President Bush said: " President Bush has asked Secretary Rice to travel to India this week in the wake of the terror attacks that killed nearly 200 people, including 6 American citizens. Secretary Rice will depart tonight (Sunday) on already scheduled travel to London. She will attend the NATO meeting on Tuesday, and then proceed to India, arriving in New Dehli on Wednesday."
"Secretary Rice''s visit to India is a further demonstration of the United States'' commitment to stand in solidarity with the people of India as we all work together to hold these extremists accountable," the statemet further said. (ANI)
