Lucknow, Feb 8: Uttar Pradesh State Legislature's budget session will start from today.

The session will commence with Governor T. V. Rajeswar's address to a joint sitting of the two Houses.

The 10-month-old Mayawati Government will present the budgetary proposals for 2008-09 on February 12 with no possibility of any tax hike. Newly-appointed Finance Minister Lalji Verma will table the budget.

Vote on accounts for the first three months will be presented on February 12.

The session is likely to be a stormy owing to the debates on issues like the drought situation in the Bundelkhand region, the depressed state of the cane farmers, the alleged atrocities on Opposition political workers and the registration of alleged fake cases against them.

Issues like exploitation of farmers and non-payment of sugarcane dues, and Bundelkhand is likely to be raised by the Samajwadi Legislature Party in the House.

The Congress will raise three main issues - Bundelkhand, fake cases registered against the MLA from Muzaffarnagar, Pankaj Malik, and alleged misuse of Central funds.

The BJP on the other hand will revise the issue of terrorism with reference to the threat to its leaders and the attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp at Rampur.

The session will end on March 14. (ANI)
