British flight makes emergency landing in Cyprus

Cyprus parliament approves Lisbon TreatyAthens  - A Manchester-bound flight from a holiday resort in Egypt with 208 people on board made a forced emergency landing in Cyprus after the pilot reported engine problems, radio reports said Wednesday.

The XL Airways flight from Sharm el-Sheikh to Manchester was forced to land at Cyprus' Larnaca airport one hour after midnight after one of the plane's engines stopped working.

The plane, a Boeing 737-900, landed safely and arrangements were made to transfer the passengers to their final destinations. (dpa)
