BPCL gets Oracle's online database monitoring service for its PetroCard programOne of the largest PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) companies of India – the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on Wednesday went live through Oracle's Online Database Application (DBA) service for its customer loyalty program, PetroCard. Oracle Corporation yesterday confirmed that it has successfully implemented the online database monitoring service for BPCL.

Oracle told that the PetroCard smart card application functions on Oracle Database, Oracle Application Server and Oracle Real Application Clusters; and the implementation of its online DBA service, BPCL is likely to save around Rs 2 million (close to $42,000) annually. BPCL told that Oracle's online DBA service incessantly monitors the database and application infrastructure of BPCL to run the loyalty program smoothly.   

PetroCard is BPCL's unique offering and we wanted a service which can handle the high transaction load without any disruption or compromise in customer service. Therefore, it was crucial for us to have a solid maintenance and support infrastructure in place which we found in Oracle s Online DBA solution said Ajay Nigam, senior manager, DB at BPCL.

In a statement, the Senior Manager, DB at BPCL, Ajay Nigam stated that PetroCard is unique offering of BPCL, and that’s why they wanted a service that could handle the high transaction load without any disruption or compromise in customer service. It was important for them to have a solid maintenance and support infrastructure, which they found in Oracle’s Online DBA solution.

Nigam stated that with Oracle's online DBA solution, they are assured that their loyalty programme is always available. Nigam explained that normally they had to hire and train staff to handle that, but Oracle’s online database monitoring service has eliminated the extra costs of hiring and training the staff. Nigam declared that they have found a strong and reliable partner in Oracle.

The Senior Director, Oracle Customer Services, Oracle India, Sanjay Mathur said that they have supported BPCL for over five years and they understand the importance of the loyalty programme, and they are proud to further their partnership with BPCL.

The PetroCard customer loyalty program of BPCL represents 25 percent of the total sales of BPCL; it represents over 2.2 million customers in India and 1,60,000 transactions per day.
