Boxers want to practice in Talkatora a week in advance

Boxers want to practice in Talkatora a week in advanceThe Indian Boxing federation is expected to get access to the new renovated Talkatora stadium just 2 days before the tournament. Meanwhile India's Olympic hero Vijendra Singh and other boxers are gearing up for the Commonwealth Championship which is going to start next month and have demanded that they need to practice at the stadium at least a week before.

These boxers wanted to get a feel of the venue and mentioned that it was really vital for them to do so. The event is going to be sponsored by 'XXX' energy drink which was fianlised only this Friday.

Currently the Talkatora Stadium at New Delhi is under renovation. The entire complex though might not be ready by next month, but the boxing arena and lounge will be completed by the next month. Common wealth games gold medalist boxer Akhil Kumar also agrees with Vijendra Kumar's view point that to get a feel of the venue and to get familiar with the conditions at least 5-6 days prior is necessary and feels this is how teams get the advantage of the home venue and claims there is nothing wrong with taking an advantage as all countries do it and is fair.

Dinesh Kumar, world cup medalist, would be competing for the fist time in this event. 18 countries with over 140 boxers are featuring in this event which would pose a massive security challenge for India.
