Bowlers put Punjab, Mumbai, Karnataka on top
New Delhi, Nov 24: Stupendous performance by bowlers put Punjab, Mumbai and Karnataka on top on the first day of their Ranji Trophy Super League group matches Tuesday.
At the Karnail Singh Stadium here, Dhaval Kulkarni (3-24) and Iqbal Abdullah (3-46) were on fire as Mumbai bowled out Railways for just 187 runs in the first innings. Mumbai were two for one at close of play.
In Mohali, hosts Punjab riding on a brilliant spell by Love Ablish (6-79) skittled out Gujarat for just 160 runs. Niraj Patel was the top scorer with 39. Manpreet Gony also picked up four for 38.
Karnataka bowled out Maharashtra for 107 in the first innings in Pune after a sterling show by R. Vinay Kumar (5-40) and Abhimanyu Mithun (3-32). In reply, Karnataka were comfortably placed at 125 for one with K. B. Pawan batting on 74 and Ganesh Satish 40.
