Bollywood comic thriller '99' – a “laugh riot!”Cashing in on the IPL fever hitting the cricket-crazy Indians, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s recently-released film ‘99’ is a cheerful and a jocular tale, interestingly woven around betting, match-fixing and mobile phones.

The flick - with Kunal Khemu and Soha Ali Khan in the lead, and ably supported by Cyrus Broacha, Boman Irani, Mahesh Manjrekar and Amit Mistry - has been hailed by the New York Times for its “funny and inventive’ plot.

‘99’ revolves around Sachin (Kunal Khemu) and Zaramud (Cyrus Broacha), playing two clumsy buddies who make their money by duplicating SIM cards of phones. Chased by cops one day, they happen to steal gangster AGM’s (Mahesh Manjrekar) swanky Mercedes, and accidentally ram in into a lamp post!

AGM gets the duo to work for him, to repay the loss incurred. They are sent to Delhi to extort money from Rahul (Boman Irani), who happens to be a die-hard gambler and a biggie in a betting racket! Thereon, the film keeps the audience in splits with its “believable fictional situations” – Sachin meeting Pooja (Soha Ali Khan) in the hotel where he and Zaramud are putting up; the duo receiving money from Rahul but their bags being stolen at the airport; and their attempts to recover the stolen money by betting on a match that has been fixed!

‘99’ is a humorous thriller with character-based comedy and can be aptly called a “laugh riot!”
